What to Expect on Sundays

At Varnell Church, we gather for worship on Sundays at 8:45 AM and 11:00 AM, on our campus located at 3485 Highway 2.

Our church property has two entrances: one off Georgia Highway 2 and another off Country Way. Parking is available in four parking areas around the facility. If you enter from the front, note that the driveway is one-way and leads to the parsonage and the east parking lot. For detailed navigation, please refer to our campus maps.

Prior to the start of each worship service, door holders are stationed in the lobby to greet you and offer assistance.

Experience Sunday Mornings with Us

At Varnell Church, we offer two worship services every Sunday.

The first service begins at 8:45 AM and our second service starts at 11:00 AM. Late arrivals are always welcome to any of our services without fuss or embarrassment.

Pastor Matt’s preaching is Biblical Wesleyan theology deeply rooted in the Holy Scriptures (Old and New Testaments). We believe that the Bible is the foundation for a life lived to the glory of God and the service of His people. You will find most sermons to be expository in nature and shaped to build so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). While many Sundays feature a series of connected messages, each sermon stands alone, so you can join us at any time and feel right at home. Each service lasts about one hour.

On the first Sunday of every month, we celebrate Holy Communion as part of our worship service. At Varnell Church, we practice an “open table,” where all who have made peace with God and their neighbors are welcome (1 Corinthians 11:27-29). This table is a place to experience the love of God and share in His grace. While everyone is invited to partake, we do expect self-examination as part of preparing our hearts for this sacred moment.

Children are always welcome at Varnell Church! We encourage families to sit together during worship—toward the front, so children can engage fully. We know how busy family life can be, so we love creating opportunities for you to worship together. Midway through the 11:00 AM service, children (kindergarten through 5th grade) are invited to participate in their own worship experience, called Praize Kraize. This is a special time for kids to grow spiritually at their level, with fun and engaging lessons.

For those unable to join us in person, our 11:00 AM service is livestreamed on Varnell Church’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Group.

Between our two services, starting at 9:45 AM, we have Sunday School classes available for all ages. See our Bible Study and Small Groups, Youth, and Children pages for more information.

Our nursery is open for children (newborn – age 3) by 9:45 AM and is managed by Varnell Church staff. For safety, children are signed in and out of the nursery. Please inform our nursery staff of any concerns or allergies. All staff and volunteers undergo a national criminal background check before being approved to work or help with our children or youth.

There is no dress code for our church. Most people choose casual dress on Sundays. Like many places in life, people dress in a variety of ways. Jeans, dress shirts, ties, capris, t-shirts, suits, and dresses are all seen on any given Sunday. Whatever you wear, you will be welcome.
